All this recent talk on consumer units has made me think about a job I did a couple of years ago on a CPN board.
The CPN board had a duff RCD and one of the breakers couldn't have been right either - as only sometimes you could 'drag' the switch to make contact (it was never going to isolate in a fault).
So, I changed all the RCDs and all the breakers for MK ones.
The MK ones are the same in terms of physical shape.
I thought it best to change all the RCDs and all the breakers
1) in case others were about to fail
2) to make it look pretty
3) couldn't be bothered to change entire board
4) to make a reasonable effort not to mix other brands of breakers etc, as manufacturers will insist on.
Not that I'm the slightest bit bothered, but as mentioned in point 4, is this ok to mix one make of enclosure and all it's bus bars etc with another make of RCD and MCBs?
I would say it's an improvement on CPN rubbush.
On other jobs I've seen MK boards, and then someone else has bunged in random CPN RCBOs in during a bathroom re-fit. Certainly wouldn't do that.
