Crack and small gap between extension and house

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a little advice on a problem I've recently noticed. My late farther left me a house which unfortunately I don't know a lot about. I'm aware the house had an extension built some years ago and it appears that there is a small gap/crack where the extension meets the house. I'm not sure how long the problem has been like this or when it started as there has always been a pipe covering the corner. I've attached photos so you can see the issue.

If there is any advice on what I should do, or how bad the potential issue is, I would be more than grateful.

Thanks for the help guys. It is indeed the daylight outside and not tin foil, ha. I can't actually get at it from outside as it's a neighbour's back yard and they don't answer when I knock.
