hello

On the outside wall next to the electric meter box, I just found a small vertical crack in the mortar joint between two bricks. It is hairline wide and about 6.5 cm long (ie. just a single layer of brick long).

I wonder if I need to do anything about it or just leave it? What kind of filling do I use if I want to repair it?

Many thanks,

If you did want to fill it and do the job properly you would need to rake out the joint and re fill it with mortar the same colour, point it and brush it. But in all honesty, there is no need what so ever, as it really will not cause a problem at all.

I think you should contact your insurance company about subsidence.

And see you doctor about paranoia.

I wouldn't do anything at this stage, just a small crack

But I would check it out every few months. If the cracking spreads to a bigger area then its time to think about what migtht be causing the problem and then fixing it
