Please can anyone shed some light on these cracks - what might cause them and should I be concerned. They are in an upstairs room - one in the corner and the horizontal one where the wall and ceiling meet
Thank you
How old is the artex?
Have you moved anything around in the loft? i.e. removed something heavy that was there before the artex was applied? Had work done on the roof/chimney?
Thank you so much for replying. I moved in the property six years ago and the artex was already done then. In they time I have had the loft boarded out and the soffits replaced
Wall and ceiling line crack is common. Often no corner tape although can still crack.
The ceiling is well stuck to wall at one point so crack has come down wall vs continuing along. That wall section may sound hollow if you tap and listen as not stuck . Leave it as is.
I'd use a polymer mastic long wall and ceiling line and finger a bit in wall crack for now. And paint.
You will need to test for asbestos if planning to renovate but it don't look likely to contain asbestos but you need to test. Can't tell for sure by looking.
Also corner rooms can crack because of roof weight and movement at the property corner. The give causes surface skim problems and joints to crack like you have.
