The concrete lintel above the patio doors into the basement in my Edwardian terraced house has cracking evident as per the photos attached. Cracks are in the face of the lintel and also the bottom. I’m not sure when lintel was added - possibly 60s or 70s the opening was originally narrower with a standard sized exterior door as per the other houses in the street.

There doesn’t appear to be any deviation in the opening.

Not sure of the best course of action? Chip off the cracked areas and re render or consult a structural engineer?

I am not qualified but it looks more surface cracking than structural?

Definitely worth a go with the hammer and chisel. Might be ok under render or rusty/burst rebar.

That looks like it's been cast insitu. The horizontal cracks appear to be related to rusting of reinforcement bars, in which case a specialist repair (rather than a random chancer having a go) may well be more expensive than a replacement.
