Hi all,
glad to find such a treasure trove of knowledge!
I want to replace a broken tile, redo mortaring at the edge and flashing at the top.
I pulled a tile from an easy-to-reach location. It has Braas Taunus Pfanne written on. It's about 41cm long, 32.5cm wide (incl. the interlocking part) or 29.5cm exposed. I googled and the top hits have a more rounded profile and generally don't look like my tiles. Mine looks a bit like Redland Renown but the size is slightly different. Seems it's not a common tile I can just order online
Qn. Any ideas about sourcing new compatible tiles? (other than going round local builders yards with a removed tile)
Qn. the "undercloak" at the edge might contain asbestos (test pending). If so, is this a case of very carefully laying new mortar on top without disturbing it? The existing mortar is basically dropping out by itself so wouldn't need to be chiselled out or anything.
Photos below.
Thanks!
Photo 1: broken tile.
Photo 2: underside of removed intact tile.
Photo 3: mortar falling out on maybe Asbestos cloak.
