Hi DiyNot,
First time home buyer, so a little unsure what to do next.
I own a pre-1900 mid-terrace property. I viewed the property in September 2020 and noticed a crack on a shared wall near the back of the property. Since moving in, I've noticed that the crack has definitely grown and is now visible downstairs as well.
I've spoken to the neighbour and they haven't had any work done that could be a cause. Looking at the surface of the plaster around the crack, it looks like it has previously been plastered-over.
I've added some pictures below of the crack in 2020, 2021 and now downstairs.
What should I do next? Do I call a plasterer, fill it myself or does this need a structural engineer or chartered surveyor?
Cheers,
David
