Hello. I've noticed some irregular diagonal cracks in a first floor chimney breast. It looks almost as if it is cracking down and outward. They seem to be extending but as there has been a picture there for several years it is difficult to say for sure. The ground floor chimney breast seems fine with no cracks. Is it serious, how would I get it sorted and will be it be expensive/disruptive/depressing?

Thank you

How wide are the cracks average - penney. pencil. broom shaft
How old is your property is there an upstairs fireplace
Is this an external wall or party wall with next door
can you see any cracks externally
dose your chimney stack look straight

Cracks are less than a penny width, it's a party wall with a poorly maintained property, had a cowl fitted recently and the flaunching redone and the people who did this didn't mention any other problems with the chimney or roof. No upstairs fireplace, it's a victorian terraced house and I can't see any external cracks.

Thank you.

K :D

They are probably just shrinkage cracks. A bit of Polyfilla will sort it.
