My house has the old problem of creaking pipes when the central heating or water is heating up (Have indirect water cylinder)

I have read that this is caused due to the expansion and contraction during heating of the copper over the joists.

On inspection the flow and return pipes are really close together running along the floorboards and are also touching the joists. There is enough movement to use felt between the pipes.

Can someone please tell me what type of felt I should use and the best place to get it from?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

I always use tubular hairfelt when installing over joists. You can get hairfelt that is not tubular from a local plumbers merchant.
