This is something that I've kind of posted in the doors forum but it's probably more of a minor building type question now I've got stuck into it.
Long story short, the slab for our kitchen floor has been thickened at some point for reasons I don't fully understand. This left a tall step right at the edge of the door threshold bar. The door frame legs went down below the depth of the slab, overlapping the slab and the reveal. Ive now cut away the unnecesary sections of the door frame which had rotted at the bottom and removed the render at the bottom of the reveals. We basically want to create a step at the same level as the internal floor. Would it be fine to just make a form the same height as the internal floor level, flush with the outside wall and fill with concrete? Or would I be better doing it with brickwork. The damp course is about midway up the step height so not 100% sure about how to keep a dsmp course within the step, or if it's even necessary as the ground is about 4-5ft down.
