Hi, I am in the process of buying a two bed maisonette in a tower block. As you can imagine from a 70's tower block the perimeter walls, floors and ceiling are all concrete and the internal walls are brick/breeze block.
I want to knock down the internal wall that encompasses the stair case. However I only want to knock down the section that is under the stairs, to open it up and put an office/display cabinet there. I still want the wall to encompass the stairs itself.
How do I start going about this? If I want to wall to still be there above the stairs, how do I go about supporting it? Does it need support? Does the stairs need support or is that fixed to the external wall?
