Is the only way I remember these little bugs as.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what they really are and how to eradicate them from my lavender plants which they are attacking with a vengeance this year ? :cry:

If you'd have watched Gardeners World last night, they would have informed you that the inset in question does no damage to the plant :D

just wash it off if you dont like the look, does no damage to the plant

I've just found out what they are. The little blighters are called froghoppers, they can leap (or hop) but they are very easy to take control of, is that where the frog (for french) bit comes into the name ??
