I need to make some doors to fit a hole left for access to the eaves following my dormer conversion.

The hole is approx 3 ft x 2 ft. I did make some out of 1 inch timber but they looked a bit naff so they have bit the dust.

Any tips on how I can make them for a pro looking job. :D

an idea of what the the actual door sizes are 18"x24" 12"x36"!!!!
what effect your looking for!!!!
are your making a feature or trying to hide them!!!!

Hi Al

I would like the doors to look nice as they will be on show. The sizes will be 2 foot high by 1.5 ft across.

I have made a frame which has been fitted squarely and just need some ideas on how to construct the doors so they will look like a pro has fitted them. :D

what other door styles have you got on the furniture in the room!!!

and what style of fixed doors!!!!

my first suggestion would be 2"x1" planed butt jointed with dowels or buiscuts 45mm showing
molding to internal face edges and external face edges if surface mounted
rebated back with txg or ply pannel

but all dependent on surrounding wood work

are you painting them!!!!

You could use MDF if you are painting them. If you have a router you could use any number of profiles to add interest to the doors. Don't forget to use a mask. Yukkie stuff the dust.......... :)
