In Nigeria, Electric current / voltage is unstable. Although 230V is the norm, but for some reason(s), a lot less than 230V is delivered to homes. What ever voltage that is delivered is unable to power a 0.5HP fridge. 60watt light bulb shines like a 20watt. Other occasions or just when you are thinking ... this voltage is too low, it increases above 230V, blowing the fridge compressor, TV, etc.
To resolve this we tend to buy a stabilizer and attached it to fridge or tv, etc of the electrical equipment to regulate and stabilize the voltage to 230V. This means that we have to buy a stabilizer for every single electrical equipment in the home to protect it. Just not possible.
I have a new home (with 3 phase supply) which consist of 14 A/C units and other equipment that are sensitive. Is there a better way of addressing this problem? For example, is it possible to buy a stabilizer powerful enough to regulate / stabilize the 3 phase coming in before passing into the consumer unit? I would not mind if I have to buy 3 of the stabilizer - connection one to each phase. But is this possible? If yes, where can I buy such stabilizers in the UK?
Thanks a lot.
