Custom Pulled out table (space saving)

Hello all again

What is the best material for pulled out space saving dining table as per below?

My builder suggested oak for this, But Isn't it a bit excessive for just a dining table?

would like glossy finish.

If you make that out of MDF or chipboard it will sag - it would need additional bracing.

Do you live in London, by any chance?

No I don't live in london, but somewhere down south.

So what wood would you suggest?

I suggest real wood, with bracing (screwed & glued) of some description underneath. You have to think about how that bracing works with all the folding that has to be done and how the legs attach and stay vertical and don't scratch your floor.
