Say you cut a piece of 15mm copper pipe, but then realise you've cut it 2mm too long. How would you shave the 2mm off?

I know from experience, that those round pipe cutter are no good, they seem to need a minimum of about 10mm of pipe in them, or they just distort the end of the pipe.

So I tried using a hacksaw, but that made a really mess of the end of the pipe, not square with lots of burrs (my hack saw blade was a bit blunt mind). So in the end I just cut another piece of pipe the correct length.

For future reference, is there a nice neat way of doing this?

Thanks in advance.

In situ, use a hand file or an electric linishing file with an endless belt.......on the bench, use a disc sander or linisher.
Flush out afterwards!

For future ref

Use a tape measure more accurately next time

I've never had a situation where I need to be accurate to 2mm when cutting copper. Also a clean sharp pipe slice can easily cut 3-4mm off an end.

I can take 1 mm or less off neatly in my lathe!
