When my floor tiles were laid they were laid right up to the face of the door jam. If this is done then the door threshold bar sticks out from underneath the door.

So I want to cut back the tiles in situ by a few mm so the threshold bar sits underneath the door (as it should) when the new carpet is laid.

So I'm wondering about the best tool/method to do this. I could use an angle grinder but as I get to the door frame I would have to cut well into the floor screed to get the blade up against the door frame.

Also, what is the ideal distance between the line of the tile and the face of the door jam? Half the thickness of the door?

Any ideas please? Thanks.
