Hi,
I need to cut largish quantities of sheet card that is used to back picture mounts. It is smooth surface ,1.5 mm thick . I would like to cut say ten sheets thickness at a time into 12 X10 pieces. I have designed a jig for this but need to know what tooth blade you feel would be best for this ? The total thickness of card sheets together as a layer being cut would be about 15mm. There should be little if no breakout because the card is being cut as a pack but possibly the top sheet might have some.
Thanks
James

I guess the more teeth the better, but a circ saw would likely rip off the individual sheets

with a circular saw, a large support area is best
a track or ply on top and board underneath will give the best results cutting onto a slot in a baton at the end off cut
what size are the cardboard sheets ??
keep in mind you loose around 2.5mm per cut
and how many do you actually need ???
a guillotine is probably your best choice as no cut waste

Thanks I've already thought of all of these things and the jig I have made caters for all of them . Really just need to know what tooth blade would be suitable for cutting through 15 mm of stacked card. Thanks again everyone.

Fine tooth blade, alternative top bevel

80t probably or 60t

Saxton blade is fine if on a budget or maybe Freud blade if you want to pay more

I don’t know what diameter but example here

If it was me I would trim them with a sacrificial piece of mdf on top and below to make sure the pack of card is squashed and flat for the cleanest cut

the simple answer is i dont know as i dont know how cardboard will react as its more "fluffy" and short soft fibres
with wood 48-60 tooth assuming 160-190mm blade 2-3mm 2-3 teeth through and clear underneath' i would suggest the same but Reilly on your feedback for the answer

I would get two pieces of mdf 12mm and sandwich the card between the MDF then cut through top sheet of mdf, through the card and into bottom piece of mdf, this method will stop breakout.

Blade - 48 toothed Triple Chip Blade.

Thanks. The jig I've made stops that happening .
Not convinced the fibrous material of multiple layers would cut smoothly like wood or mdf with a circ saw. Id try a jig saw with a down cutting blade
