See pic attached - I've got an iron (or steel or whatever) fence surrounding part of my garden. I'd like to open up the fence in the red marked section to make it easier to get to the sloping bit of ground below - it's a bit dangerous at the moment because I have to climb over it and I'm a clumsy oaf: one day I'm likely to slip, fall, roll down the slope and then fall 5ft onto concrete paving slabs - which could do me a lot of damage.
I cut could out the section of fence easily enough and just leave a gap I suppose, but then I'd be worried that if I ever had young children visiting I'd be worried that they might wander through the gap and then have a very bad fall.
Is there an easy way that I could turn that section of fence into a hinged gate that I could open/close and even lock?
Alternatively have some kind of bracket fitted so that I could lift that section out when I need to and put it back afterwards?
Or even somehow convert it to be a half height thing so that I just could step over it when I need access (but high enough to keep small children out)?
Might I need a welder here or is there something I could do with drilling and fitting hinges, brackets, etc.?
Grateful for ideas, suggestions, etc.
Thank you
