I have to cut a square hole (approx 20cms) in the side of a kitchen base unit carcass to allow access to a stop cock. I want to get a clean hole with minimal chipping of the laminate. What would be the best way to do this, jigsaw, router or handsaw? I can remove the side panel to cut it

I'm assuming you only need the inside face to have a good finish Dave - I'm guessing that you won't be able to see the outside face? In this case a jigsaw would be fine but cut from the side that you won't see then any splintering would be restricted to that side only. Or cut from the good side with a downcut blade.
