Cutting laundry chute access through brick wall

Hi all,

We are installing a laundry chute in our Victorian home and want access via the landing, which means cutting a 300mm square hole in a brick wall. We will mount a safe fire door on both ends. How do I work out if I need to put a steel lintel in above a brick and a half by 3 brick opening?
