Cutting lead toilet waste pipe

Hi,

Has anybody got any advice on cutting back this lead waste pipe? It needs to be cut as far back nito the wall as possible in order to fit a Multikwik flexible connector.

Any advice is appreciated

I rotated my laptop so the white pipe was at the bottom!

My solution would be to totally replace the old lead pipe with plastic.

How would the plastic pipe fit into the cast iron collar on the other side of the wall?

With one of the flexible gaskets.

Although I suspect many plumbers would just use Plumbers Mait.

This is the view from outside. It would mean removing alot of bricks to get at it, and was told on here to cut the pipe back and use a Multikwik connector.

You know if it was my job, I'd remove the cast iron soil stack and replace with plastic, then you know your going to have good seals everywhere and not potentail leakages where multikwik meets lead.

Yep it will cost more and you'll have to remove bricks but better than bodging in my opinion

That would be the best way. The trouble is I have already bought the necessary Multikwik connectors, so I am tempted to try fitting that first and if it leaks take out the lot and fit plastic.
Also my flat is part of a large Victorian house and the cast iron pipe work is on a pretty big scale (and in a conservation area). I dont know if I am aloud to remove it. One end runs alond the balcony and down to the ground and the other goes vertically up. To replace a section of it with plastic would weaken the support to the vertical bit quite aq lot.

well if you were told to cut it and fit a multikwik, thats what you want to do then, use an old wood saw to cut it right against the wall for looks
