I'm going to be moving our front door and cutting a new gap in the wall. The wall is 2 leaf cavity wall both made of brick.

The new hardwood frame will need to be secured in place but I think the cavity should be filled. Where the old frame is the cavity has been filled with brick and mortar and a damp proof course put in vertically to separate the two leaves.

Is this still the way to do it?

Do I use the same closer across the bottom and sit the wooden frame cill on top of this?

Does the wooden cill need to sit on a bed of mortar?
