Cutting slate tiles

Hi,
I would like to tile an 8m2 area with 200x400 slate tiles, however I can only find 400x400 in the shade that I would like.
Would cutting the larger size in two be a sensible option? I am planning to buy a wet tile cutter anyway, but wanted to check what people thought.
I should need to cut around 50 tiles in half to make enough to do the job.

its a lot of work and you will get inaccuracies.

IF you are going to consider it, go and hire a good, overhead watercooled cutter with a guage.

It actually works out cheaper to buy it and then sell it than hire one!
