Cutting slot between two existing holes in plasterboard?

I have two holes in my plasterboard wall, with satellite coax cables coming through them.

At present the holes are a bit rough and just look horrible...

My plan is to fit a double sized blank electrical wallplate (147x88mm) over the top of them and have F-type sockets on the wallplate.

What i want to do is to cut out a slot between the two holes to give the cables more room to move when fitting the wallplate...

Black is the existing holes (12mm in diameter, 97mm centers), Red is the section I want to remove.

What is the easiest way to do this? (Never worked with plasterboard before)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have one of those, and don't really want to buy one for just this one-off job.

Can you suggest any alternatives?

a stanley knife, draw your cut lines with a pencil and score with a stanley knife have you got one of those dave?
