Hi all,

Newbie here :D my Dad has a Daewoo Lanos that is running really lumpy. Upon inspection we have found that there are 3 rubber pipes that have perished and split. What we are not sure of is the name of these pipes that we need to replace. Any help would be much appreciated.

Please see the pictures attached. The 'wrinkled' pipe has a split in plus the other 2 pipes that you can see a lot clearer.

Thanks

Ryan

These are breather pipes, that allow crankcase emissions (oily fumes, more or less) to be burnt rather than be expelled to the atmosphere.
Its unlikely that they will cause rough running of the car, but its best they are replaced - suitable lengths of hose are available from motor factors.
As for the poor running, you could be looking for other vacuum pipes around the throttle body area that are leaking in air......or of course, things like new spark plugs / HT leads and the like.

Thanks for the quick reply...... I'm guessing it's just a standard sized hose that needs to be cut to length ?? Also, we have said it could be filters, plugs and leads etc as he hasn't had it serviced in over 8 years :-/

Take the hose with you so they can match the diameter up, and explain what it is. Heater hose will likely do well enough for this as its moderately oil resistant.
As for the servicing, go for oil, oil filter, air and fuel filters as a bare minimum, together with new spark plugs and take it from there.
8 years without attention - thats going some!
John :)
