hey guys, I have a damp chimney breast and after being on here discovered it was probably condensation inside an old disused and blocked up flue. have knocked a wee hole at the bottom for a vent (where the fireplace was) and pulled out 40 years worth of birds nest. As it is capped we need an airbrick outside to cause the airflow. but before we got the chance to do that, I lit the fire in another room and smoke started coming out the new vent.
So my question is can I put a vent at the top and bottom of the flue on the outside of the house? (rather than a vent inside leading to outside) or
is there any way to patch the hole between the two flues?
Thanks in advance
Frances
