We moved into our house around 3 years ago and the house is around 8 years old.
In the last 6 months we started to get damp in the bottom corners of the windows. Then over a short period of time the window sil became completely blown on one side and we also experienced some damp patches on the ceiling one storey down below the window.
We are in a 3 storey town house with the top floor being in the roof space. The window with the issue is a dormer window.
We have currently got scaffolding up for further investigation. The builders we have had out originally said the sealant might need sorting and the lead work below the window didn't look great (not sure how that could affect the window above). Now they have actually got outside to have a look they are saying they have checked the sealant around the windows and it all looks ok. The end caps are on the pvc window sil too so they don't think it's coming in there. They agreed to redo the sealant at the edge of the external window sil and add some lead sealant to the lead work.
I really don't want to take down the scaffolding and be in the exact same position in a few months/years time.
I am considering getting a window fitter out to have a look. Has anyone got any other advice or ideas about what else we can check whilst the scaffolding is there and we have east access?
Thanks in advance!
