Our bathroom window lintel is experiencing damp. To the point the blind brackets have gone rusty. We have an extractor fan in the bathroom and the trickle vents are open.
There is an insect net over the window, could this be trapping condensation?
The lintel is cool, the bathroom often has 100% humidity - particularly if you have a shower in there. What do you think will happen? - wet air condenses on the coolest part of a room. IMO This is the cause of 90% of black mould - surface condensation.
2 remedies 1) regularly use bleach to knock down the black mould as it forms 2) insulate the area so the surface temperature is raised, but make sure the wet air can't get behind the new surface or it will still condense behind the insulation.
