Hi all,

I have a small damp patch that has started to appear when it rains, it is in the bottom corner where the skirting board meets the UPVC door frame and I can’t work out for the life of me where it is coming from. I have attached pics for reference if anyone can help. I have re sealed the outside as there were some very minor gaps and I thought it had gone away but had come back after recent rainfall. Is it possible that water can get in behind the external hinge on the UPVC door frame?

Would be interested to know if you solved your damp problem - we have the exact same problem and can’t find the source. Thanks

It's either the frame not fitted far enough in towards the interior (damp bridge) or the drain holes in the sill are not functioning properly - or both.

Ok thanks. Having just had the outside re-rendered and the inside damp-proofed and re plastered, I feel like this isn’t going to be good news!

We have managed to resolve this at skirting board level, by introducing some cleverly placed DPC etc.

Would that be done by a damp proof company or a UPVC company? Our damp proof company have already tried adding more sealant to the outside two times and couldn’t suggest a different cause so not sure how successful we will be in getting them back again.
