Damp proof membrane in carpet underlay? That seems bad...

I am renovating a few extra rooms in my house, and having previously used Cloud 9 Super Contract I thought I would see whether there is anything better. I quite like the sound insulation properties of Plushwalk 12mm, but I notice it has a damp proof membrane in it...

I dont really have any visible damp problems from looking at the floorboards, but would putting a damp proof membrane above the floorboards prevent them from breathing and hence start to rot? (I know why you might do it on concrete or something, but why on floorboards? - especially not ground floor)

Thanks for your thoughts!
