Hi - need some advice on an idea, please...
My place is an 1900ish solid wall house. Externall bricks rendered and internally lime plaster with a couple of skim plaster coats over the years.
Getting damp around a 1st floor window. (Window looks water tight). Builder suggests external render has become porous allowing recent rain water through. The suggested 'fix' is to hack back to bricks internally and tank with BB75 and replaster. Neighbour has done this extensively.
I was considering hacking back to brick and attaching a 10mm marmox cement/foam insulation board and skimming over. Thought this would give a water tight layer (like the tanking), add a little insulation to protect against condensation in the winter. Would this be a bad idea?
Cheers,
Steve
