The clock dial on the timer has stopped turning properly, loses about 6 hours per day so I need to replace. I can buy a new Danfoss SET3M unit for £43 ish from ebay but i'd rather upgrade to a 7 day digital timer if possible. I've discovered that new units fit to a new standard backplate that differs from the one have now. Therefore I need to remove the old backplate and re-wire to a new backplate? Is this straightforward, if so I need to know which wired to connect where etc. The old backplate looks like the on on this link:

The Backplate has 9 slots labeled: E N L 1 2 3 4 5 6. . The timer slots in place with 8 spade, there is no connection to E from the Danfoss SET3M, but the other 8 link to N L 1 2 3 4 5 6. On the backplate there is no wire connected to 6, all others have wires.
I hope this makes sense! Any help on how to wire a new unit appreciated.
Thanks
