I read the case of a so called "danger tourist" who has been arrested in Afghanistan, despite being rescued by the UK government while also on "holiday" previously.

The three men include "danger tourist" Miles Routledge, who had to be rescued from Afghanistan in 2021 when Western forces pulled out of the country suddenly as the Taliban took over.

I can't help wondering if he should pay for his own release rather than the government/tax payer.

Who on earth goes to Afghanistan for a "holiday".

FCDO advice has been to not go there for some time. What was it when they went, I wonder.

Given they were previously evacuated, my guess is it’s been obviously a no go area ever since.
