I was knocking down an internal partition wall and it was built with Dark grey breeze block, Could it have been asbestos?

I think the wall was built around 1970, as the builder used scrunched up news paper to fill a gap :)

no, breeze blocks made of cement and knobbly hard bits are not asbestos.

in a 1970's house you might still find asbestolux sheeting, which is a hard, grey/white board used for fireproofing or shed roofs, smooth on one side, may be textured on the other.

the real killer is the fibrous insulation mostly used in ships and factories, not much chance that will be in a house, except perhaps in or around a boiler where it might be used woven into a sort of rope as a door seal.

it looks like an ordinary cement block to me. It has nothing suggesting asbestos to it.

Thanks I just wanted a bit of reassurance. It was the colour that made me wonder if it was asbestos.
