Hi all, Renault clio 1.2 16 v... 02 reg, there is a flashing sign on my sons clio its to the right of the speedo on the dash, its shaped like an engine, its not always flashing but when it is the car feels sluggish and gear stick shakes anybody know what the sign is cheers P M

Sounds like a MIL light - not seen them flash before. You might need to have the car connected to a diagnostic reader, most garages should have one that fits petrol cars 2001+

Prob the ECU security bracked has worn into the engine loom! Check to the left of the ECU bolted to the back of the engine, there is a metal bracket with a big loom exiting to the right, the security bracket becomes loose and rattles about eating into the engine loom.

The engine loom, is the bunch of wires usually bound in a plastic wrapping, that goes to / from the engine control unit, if subject to vibration, it can become damaged if it rub's against anything.
It could be expensive if left unchecked.
Nb there are several other types of looms, lighting, charging, instrument, etc etc.
