I've worked at two houses where they have two kitchens. One was a Yorkshireman (shift charge engineer at a power station) living in Yoxall and the other was a middle class couple living in Cannock.

Both had everyday, much used kitchens which were for ordinary family life. Then they used the grander kitchens for social gatherings. Odd, but not unusual.
