Daylight in loft?

Hi,

We have a slate and dry verge system installed on our new build. On first opening up the loft we were surprised to see daylight in some areas (see pics). Builder says this is normal and built in ventilation however the vent is on the opposite side of the roof. Any thoughts? We have not noticed water coming in or anything like that. The house is gable fronted and to the right hand side where we adjoin the neighbouring property is a valley.

Not only ventilation but easy access for bees/wasps etc if they feel like nesting there, unless of course these access ways have mesh guards

No it's not right, it should be put right, is the roof slated now?

Thanks - yes the roof is slated as we have already completed. Can’t see any issues from above but it’s quite high up so difficult to see. Any particular reason? Builder said sometimes they make cuts to allow for ventilation but without knowing much about roofs difficult to say

He's BS'ing you. He's left a bit unwrapped and giving you some BS. The underlay is there as a back-up if a slate should crack or fly off in a storm or something, it should not have holes in it . Educate yourself (google) as to the reason you have an underlay.

As above, total bull, underlay is a second line of defence, refer the clown to this discussion and ask him to put forward his argument.PS my first post was being facetious
