Daylight in roof

Hi just had a new roof fitted on an old house and there are gaps at the gable end where daylight is visible. Is this normal? If not any suggestions on what to do about it? Many thanks!

The loft is vented. The vents are protected by the soffit. Depending on your soffit, day light can show through.
