Excuse my language but the shower has gone t*ts up.
But things have gone from bad to worse. It seems the water pressure on my boiler is too high. A pipe outside is dripping warm water, it's not the overflow pipe but a dark brown loop pipe that comes out of the house then goes back in.
I checked the pressure gauge and it's way over the red mrk.
My boiler is a water pressure top up one, not the water tank version.
Is the only way i can decrease the pressure is by bleeding?

Thanks in advance.

i am not a plumber or heating engineer, but you should reduce the pressure when the system is off and cold, it may be either you fill loop tap is on slightly or a blockage causing the rise in pressure.

bleeding a rad is the easiest way to reduce pressure

Breezer your the man. You may not be a plumber or engineer but your advice has always been A+.
I phoned a good friend who recently became a plumber. He said that the shower wasn't working due to

a) A blockage from bleeding being shifted or disturbed.
b) the shower is just simply knackered.

Since the central heating has been switched off the pipe outside has stopped dripping warm water. I have bled the radiators just above 1 bar. The bathroom radiator had lots of air in. I might turn the boiler up again and see if that pipe starts to leak again.
Due you think this was dripping due to high pressure?

Thank you

John

You have to check the expansion vessel is ok first. Search for "expansion vessel" and "filling loop" on this forum. Lots of posts, lots of info.

If the expansion vessel is u/s, it is better even to have some air in radiators, until you get a new one.

The expansion vessel just seems to be ok. It went down after a bled the radiators. I still think the gauge should be a little lower. The pipe dripping outside has now slowed down to about 1 drip per 8 - 10 seconds

the thing that you say "went down" is the system pressure guage.

the expansion vessel is a large red thing that looks like or similar to

this is the one on my boiler, the picture is taken from above the boiler looking down the back.

and yes that is a "tyre valve" you can see it is how you inflate it.

My boiler was on MAX and now I twisted the nob to Normal and the dripping has seemed to stop. We at least I think so. Where the overflow pipe is outside and another metal pipe that has something to do with the radiators the wall is very wet even above the pipes. Possibly a burst pipe?

If it's anywhere near your boiler exhaust, it's probably condensation from the exhaust. It's very wet stuff.
