Decent hose pipe

I've had a few hozelock hoses on a reel and in all cases, they kink, eventually tear in these spots and also leak where they are connected to an attachment e.g. tap connector or the hose end.

I use this for the plants and washing the car. I think I have a 30 metre hose at the moment.

Is there anything more durable and less hassling that people can recommend please.

Empty them of water and store somewhere where they don't freeze as the cold causes rubber to deteriorate.
Ours is a yellow hozelock and 20 years old and still good.

I swap the hose fittings when they start to leak. Only plastic with rubber 0 ring that wears out

I have one of those reinforced green hoses, on a reel, fixed to the wall, for 40 years. Reel deteriorated and was replaced last year, but the original hose is still absolutely fine. The ends have needed new O rings occaisionally.

Our yellow hozelock must be a good 20 years old too, still seems fine though seems to have the odd kink, it spends 99% of its time coiled up on one of those retractable thingy's.

Some people live where hose is not so exposed so the winter weather done effect it so much I think.
I've away brought mine in though

Yes when I meant a retractable thingy it's effectively inside a plastic housing so not exposed as such.

As Harry: green reinforced, brass fittings, replace O rings as needed.
Left rolled up and outside, no issues in decades.

If you just wind it in with no care for avoiding kinking at, it will wear more quickly.

35 years ago I bought a Swan 5/8" hose from the commisary at RAF Chicksands and it is still going strong . It came with a lifetime guarranty (you just cut off the brass ends to send back for a new hose) and it has lived its entire life coiled up outside in the elements . Modern versions are still available on Amazon .

Thanks for all the responses. Admittedly, I have left my hose outdoors throughout the year.
I can purchase a new hozelock hose and bring indoors during the winter. I'd appreciate any recommendations, especially if you've purchased one recently.
