Decking orientation

Morning,

Usually when i have done decking i have done it leading away from the house. I am considering doing it horizontally to the house. I know there is usually a fall to aid rain falloff, but horizontally would the logic be the same, just running off to the side?

I have to use a number of boards joined together too for the width and length, so would water potentially pool up at the board join?

I've always done it horizontally, as you put it and I've never bothered with a fall either. I'm still alive too. Don't listen to the doubters!

Most slippery when walking in line with boards, zig zag pattern most affective for avoiding that.
