Decking paint

Ok so put new decking down and then used some slate grey (Cuprinol ) after a night of a bit of rain washed off !
Got in touch with Cuprinol said I need to leave decking down 3/6 months before painting.After reading reviews a lot people having the same problem so my question is .
As anyone used this on old decking or new and it’s stayed on thanks

On new decking any form of paint or oil will come off on the first rain fall.

It has to be left for 6 months before painting.

I have used the cuprinol paint on a pergola a few years ago and was really impressed, I still walk past my old house now and it still looks fresh with no cracking or peeling.
