Hi Lee , i have had a deck down for around 11 years , we did treat it many years ago with cuprinol deck care which is clear so leaves the natural colour to a point , but we have found that a jet washer once or twice a year keeps the deck in good nick in actual fact we have just cleaned it ready for the summer . So i would put a high pressure washer on your shopping list :D cheers Mark

hi howy thanks for reply ive looked on screwfix and came up with these items which one would ya recommend? the deckings only been down 10 months and has weathered alot will power wash it before treating it.

i will also need to treat the decking spindles etc will these be suitable?

thanks all in advance

Hi Lee , those products are fine , i am going to complicate matters here.
I did not like many of the colours around for the spindles and to match my fencing , so we invented our own more natural look it was ..
Cuprinol ducks back harvest gold mixed with cuprinol timbercare woodland green , don't ask me how we achieved the colour it is trial and error . we tended to put half of tin of harvest gold in a vessel then add the green to the desired level testing on scrap wood or areas you cant see. we ended up with a more natural look and it lasts for yonks .
Cheers mark

Don't use anything other than oil on a deck as it will inevitably start to flake off in a few years and you'll have a nightmare trying to remove it.

Agree with r896neo, tried various decking coatings, all flaked off after a year or so, just use decking oil now , much better results.

bought some decking oil from wickes a few weeks ago to do mine after reading a lot of advice on this forum. Just got to get round to doing it now!
