I have a 2.5kva generator and a 2.5kva garden shredder. The shredder trips the overload circuit breaker on the generator on start up.Can any one suggest a solution or where I can purchase a propriety delayed trip or circuit breaker. I have been told that after the intial start up the generator should be able to keep the shredder going, but it demand is too much current on start up.

You probably have type B breakers. Type C are designed to cope with high start up currents.
