Designer Mixer Showers

I've just been browsing though a brochure full of bathroom stuff trying to decide on a mixer shower.

I think the brochure is Oasis Bathrooms.

I cant believe the prices of the 'designer' mixer showers. Well expensive!
Some of them look quite good.
Lots of different makes as well.

Are mixer showers all a bit of a muchness in terms of reliability/performance and what 'tech specs' should I be most concerned about? Bearing in mind it wil be used with a mains pressure hot water cylinder?

Screwfix do a decent bar mixer for £70.

Had mine for 4 yrs with no problems

My pipes to the shower, will be coming out of a solid wall, I'm guessing I have to ensure the pipes are the correct distance apart. I guess theres no standard for that...

I think you have about 20 mm play with the centres of pipes.

Measure yours and compare

If not you can alter pipework to fit if you are inclined.
