In a reasonable attempt to beat the snow, and to prevent any more major freakouts from Mrs B, I bought a Suzuki Jimny 4x4 Estate today.
Its a 2005 model with 24k on the clock, manual box and they are fetching silly money at the moment.
No matter.
Is there anyone out there who owns or has owned one of these?
I'm just looking for points to watch for, etc and general comments. It will be laid up through Spring to Autumn.
Thanks for reading, and good evening everyone.
John :)

I spent 12 months at a Suzuki dealer ;) Cracked blocks and front axle pivot bearings, that is all I can remember was a real problem with Jimny`s, other than that they are quite reliable :)

Thanks gents - I'm picking it up next weekend hopefully, and kind of looking forward to it in a perverse sort of way.
The under body protection doesn't seem up to much though so I'll be busy with that come the Spring.

Santa came early??

Mrs B is a very lucky lady indeed, you can quote me on that (if it helps)!

We have (my sister) a SJ410 1989 Suzuki and she adores it. Gearbox
was seized when we got it, as it never was in the low box from new.

The younger ones are said to suffer a little from tatty wiring around the
engine going to sensors etc. So just keep on top of any deterioration of
the loom especially where it leaves the protective cover and goes into
the sensor/sensors. Like all modern engines they don't seem to have
long enough wire in the loom.

But apart from that happy days?

That should keep you OK for brownie points well into the new year.

PS John, have you the deal done yet? Or would you like to look around?

We have a list of yards in the Midlands that have CAT C/D repairable
listed. Let me know if interested. (I tried to send you a message with
more details, but no joy)

Hello Mr Mursal!
Yep, the evil deed has been done...I've been combing the Autotrader and eBay for the last fortnight and have been pipped at the post every time.
The dealers are making good money from these things and they are 'flying out of the door' (Quote).
Even private sellers are getting dealer prices.
Anyway, I found one in deepest Yorkshire, went to see it yesterday and it seemed excellent so I bought it - no discount as dealers were phoning as I was there!
So, we'll see what happens...Burnerwife got stuck in the village at 6am this morning so there was hell on. I had to get out of bed to give her a shove :p
I must confess, with considerable embarrassment - the last second hand vehicle I bought was in 1976 (Mk 2 Escort, holes in the doors after 3 years!).
I hope its a good 'un.
Cheers for the comments!
John :)
