Hi

I have a Dewalt 18v strimmer model: DCMST561N-XJ
Does anyone know if a brush cutter adapter is available? There certainly is not an official Dewalt version available so looking if there is a universal adapter?

Regards

Brush cutter as in a metal blade? Usually reserved for tougher weeds, bramble and scrub.

An 18v tool wouldn't really be up to that, the battery wouldn't last 5 minutes, you might burn the motor out, and if you tried to improvise a blade attachment, it might lead to injury.
I've used the DW cordless trimmer, excellent tool but not really up to much more than grass and light weeds, as it is designed to do.

When clearing the nettles behind our house, I always find that a hand scythe is much quicker than my petrol strimmer.

I don't thinks you are correct saying a blade discharges the battery faster I'm afraid. a blade is thinner offering less resistance than cord. .My 18V Makita battery lasts considerably longer when a blade is attached and will cut effectively at lower speeds if needby

All things being equal a blade could well be more efficient, your mileage may vary. But normally you'd use a blade when a string is not up to the job, bigger weeds and brush (hence the name brush cutter)
If you are cutting through thicker stuff then that would of course impose a heavier load on the machine, hence shorter battery life.

There is a plastic brushcutter option for the makita 18 volt strimmer but not available in this country. I have seen some generic versions on ebay but cant locate right now and may not fit dewalt. I use my makita pole hedge trimmer when needed for longer grass, it can be bent back at a reverse angle. It is years since I used a scythe but remember it was very satisfying when the blade was sharp and the technique correct.

Blup
