Dial on Maxol 600 Homewarm boiler

Hi Everyone

Just a quick question - in our rented house we have a Maxol 600 Homewarm but there's no manual for it. There's a dial on the front of it which is numbered from 1 - 5. We currently have it on 3 but I'm not actually sure what this dial does.

It's the boiler thermostat, regulated the temperature of the water in the boiler.
