did dishwasher cause problem

wonder if anyone can help please
cut a long story short ,engineer fixed dishwasher went away , iturned it on it didnt work,pulled out dishwasher from housing to make sure power was on and bang the whole house is in darkness ,now the rcd wont switch back on,all mcb are in off position every plug in house is unplugged ,, so why wont rcd switch back.

Some RCD's need to be reset by switching fully off then back on again. (Long shot, but you never know) Also many RCD's won't reset if there is no power.

But what you've described sounds like a short, in which case you may have damaged the MCB on that circuit, or you may have even damaged the RCD itself.

You will need to systematically test your way through your installation, from the main incomer owards. Unless you have the right equipment and experience to do this I'd recomend calling in a professional.
